About the Interview

In 1973, Coretta Scott King, widow of the late Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., sat down in the MAET studio with Bruce Payne, News Director of WOKJ Radio. 

Five years after her husband was assassinated, Mrs. King remarks on the progress of the Civil Rights movement especially across the American Deep South and how she hopes it will evolve. In the interview, she reflects on the non-violent resistance to achieve racial equality and how much Mississippi has achieved in terms of advancing Civil Rights.
