Privacy & Security
Mississippi Public Broadcasting and the MPB Foundation are committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of your confidential information to the extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal law. Other than as required by laws that guarantee public access to certain types of information, or in response to subpoenas or other legal instruments that authorize access, personally-identifiable information is not actively shared except as otherwise disclosed in this policy.
We collect no Personally Identifiable Information about you unless you voluntarily participate in an activity that asks for information (i.e. sending an e-mail). To participate in some activities that we feature on our site, you may be asked to provide some personal identification information. If you do not want this information to be collected or used by us, you can simply choose not to submit your information. However, this may prevent your participation in these activities.
When You Make a Membership Pledge
MPB and MPB Foundation will ask you to provide the information necessary to process and service your membership pledge: name, billing and shipping address, telephone number, email address, and credit card number. This information is encrypted for your security and is only seen by our membership staff who processes your gift and our contracted fulfillment agencies.
At the time of donation, you may be asked to submit a comment as to why you support MPB. This is strictly voluntary. Should you choose to provide a comment, the same may be used by MPB and MPB Foundation as part of future promotional campaigns.
When You Complete an Online Survey
MPB and MPB Foundation may post surveys on their sites. These surveys, which are completely voluntary, may ask about your interests, occupation, educational background, and so on. We use this information to understand our members and viewers better and to determine how best to serve them. The information collected is not intended to be shared with third parties.
We regularly send newsletters to our registered members and visitors with information about MPB and MPB Foundation programs, services or membership opportunities. If you do not wish to receive any email from MPB and MPB Foundation, indicate your preference on the pledge form when making a pledge or send an email message with your name to info@mpbfoundation.org. We will do our best to make your change in a timely manner.
From time to time MPB and MPB Foundation may be required to comply with federal grants by providing email addresses of our supporters to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, PBS and/or NPR. Should you receive email correspondence from one of our affiliated entities, you will have the option of removal from future correspondence from that entity.
Security
MPB and MPB Foundation make every effort to ensure that all of the transactions are secure. All credit card numbers submitted to the site are encrypted. Any personal information you submit with your pledge is encrypted and completely secure. Even in the unlikely event that the information you send is intercepted it will not be usable by anyone else.
Your peace of mind and safeguarding is very important to us. If you do not feel comfortable submitting your personal information online you can make your pledge by calling 1-833-613-2033.
Information We Collect Automatically (Aggregate and Other Non-Personal Information)
Our server may track how you and other visitors use this site, identifying the source of visitors and what pages and functions they use and view. By looking at this aggregated, non-personally identifiable information we can better understand our community, which allows us to improve our websites and mobile applications and to provide you with an optimal experience and better service. We may supplement Personal Information we collect from you with, e.g., geographic data or content customization drawn from your usage of this site.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
In order to provide optimal service and convenience we may use industry-standard tracking technologies, such as “cookies.” Cookies and similar technologies (e.g., pixels and other tags) are temporary bits of code placed in your web browser that allow MPB and MPB Foundation to track how you use the site, and facilitate communication when you browse this site. Cookies are completely anonymous and help us serve you: we use information gathered with cookies to optimize the site and your browsing experience. We also may use cookies when you make a pledge to keep track of items you add to your pledge basket so you can continue to browse the site until you are ready to check out. At no time does the cookie reveal your name, address, email, or telephone number (even if you have entered these in other areas of the site). You always have the ability to set your browser to refuse to accept cookies without limiting your ability to make a pledge securely or browse the site – though some parts of the site may not function properly if cookie acceptance is disabled.
Third Party Tracking
Third parties, including those advertising on our sites and our advertising analytics partners, may also use tracking technologies to follow your use of the site or sponsor messages and acknowledgements placed on the site. Neither MPB nor MPB Foundation control third party tracking.

Specific uses may include: operating and providing the site and our business; optimizing and customizing the site to improve your experience; communicating with you; enforcing the Terms of Service; and any other functions described in connection with collection of your Personal Information.
Aggregate and Other Non-Personal Information
In general, the information we collect automatically may be used to respond to your requests, enable you to take advantage of the site’s features and services, optimize content and user experience, measure analytics, and manage and improve the services available on the site.

In no event will MPB or MPB Foundation sell, license, lease, lend, trade, donate, transfer, exchange or otherwise disclose the station’s membership lists with, or acquire such lists from, any candidate for public office, committees or organizations supporting a candidate, political parties, or organizations that solicit funds for use in political campaigns.
Information Collected From Children
The MPB and MPB Foundation site consists of general audience websites and mobile applications not designated or intended for use by children under the age of 13. Nonetheless, MPB and MPB Foundation take great pride in the responsible and quality content and services we provide for children. For this reason, MPB and MPB Foundation do not knowingly collect or store Personal Information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child (who is under 13) has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us. Upon request, we will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
MPB and MPB Foundation will not condition your child’s participation in any activity on the child’s disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such an activity.

PBS’s collection, storage, and use of Passport information is subject to PBS’s Terms and Conditions.
