Memphis-based rocker Liz Brasher released her EP Outcast (Fat Possum) the same day she performed on The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour for our Double Decker show. The album was produced in Memphis by Brasher, Bruce Watson and Scott Bomar (The Bo-Keys). NPR’s All Songs Considered said, “A Memphian of Dominican descent who grew up singing in Spanish in the church, Brasher synthesizes the sounds of '60s garage, girl group sounds, dirty blues, holy roller church music, and Bob Dylan into something completely her own.”

Aminatta Forna’s latest novel is Happiness (Atlantic Monthly Press), the story of a search for a missing boy in contemporary London. It’s a powerful look at new love and lost love, of past griefs and of the hidden side of a multicultural metropolis. Her previous books include the novels The Hired Man, The Memory of Love and Ancestor Stones, and a memoir, The Devil that Danced on the Water. Forna’s books have been translated into eighteen languages.

Forna was born in Scotland and raised in Sierra Leone and Great Britain. She spent periods of her childhood in Iran, Thailand and Zambia. She is Lannan Visiting Chair of Poetics at Georgetown University and professor of creative writing at Bath Spa University in Bath, England.

The Delta Saints are Ben Ringel, vocals/guitar; Dylan Fitch, guitar; David Supica, bass' Vincent “Footz” Williams, drums' and Nate Kremer, keyboards. The California band, now based in Nashville, crafts “raw and visceral rock music with psychedelic flares, fuzzed-out guitar riffs, arresting drum patterns and blues tendencies.” Their latest full-length LP is Monte Vista. Their previous albums include Bones, Live at Exit/In and Death Letter Jubilee. The band will embark on a major European tour this summer.
