JACKSON, Miss. – On July 1, Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s .5 television channel will become home to the WORLD Channel.
WORLD Channel tells the personal stories behind the headlines. WORLD produces four award-winning original series: America ReFramed for domestic long-form documentaries; Doc World for international long-form documentaries; Local, USA for short-form content on local issues of national importance; and Stories from the Stage, a multi-platform storytelling series. WORLD also showcases the best of public media, featuring films and programs from filmmakers, public media stations and partners that celebrate diverse cultures and highlight critical issues like education, healthcare, the environment and politics.
MPB’s Classroom TV will continue to air on this channel Monday- Friday between the hours of 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

To access the WORLD Channel, viewers do not need internet at home. The channel is not available on cable and satellite services at this time. Viewers must use an antenna on their televisions. Cable and satellite subscribers will need to purchase a digital antenna and change their television’s input setting. Individuals who already only use antennas will need to rescan their televisions to pick up this channel.
