JACKSON, Miss.Fit to Eat, a Mississippi Public Broadcasting original television program, will begin airing nationally on the Create channel June 7. In Mississippi, the program will air Mondays on Create at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

This marks the second time Create has added an MPB original program to its lineup. In 2019, Create added Mississippi Roads, MPB’s flagship program that explores the people, places and events that make Mississippi special and unique.

“Having another MPB program air nationally on Create is a win for Mississippi,” said John Gibson, MPB Director of Television. “This program serves viewers by showing them healthier choices of what to cook and how to cook it.”

MPB created Fit to Eat in 2012 to help combat the state’s obesity and health problems at a time when 68.6 percent of Mississippians were overweight or obese. Chef Rob Stinson, a Gulf Coast restaurateur, has hosted the program since it began.

On the show, Stinson brings healthy cooking instruction right into the homes of viewers. He uses fresh ingredients from Mississippi to create simple, yet delicious dishes. Stinson is often joined by Registered Dietitian Rebecca Turner who gives insight into the medical and nutritional benefits of foods.

MPB is a state agency that also operates as a PBS and NPR affiliate broadcasting station. For more information visit www.mpbonline.org. Find all MPB press releases here.
