Fans of the cult classic Tomes & Talismans will soon get a chance to take a nostalgic trip back to the future to see Ms. Bookheart and the gang as they try to preserve Earth’s library knowledge. Each of the episodes is 20 minutes long and will be released exclusively on MPB Online for streaming starting October 17 for a limited time.
The 1986 series was produced by Mississippi Public Broadcasting– then Mississippi ETV – as a tool to teach elementary age students about the Dewey Decimal system. As an educational resource, Tomes & Talismans found its way into homes, schools and libraries across the nation, gaining fans far and wide along the way.
A free, virtual kick-off event to commemorate Tomes & Talismans’ nationwide availability is October 15 and will feature the first two episodes of the series before the official release to the general public. Those interested can register here or visit www.mpbonline.org/tomes to sign up for the event, which will feature former cast members, a panel discussion and opportunities to win prizes.
