JACKSON, Miss. – Hundreds of Mississippi residents were recently welcomed at Mississippi Public Broadcasting studios for a first-of-its-kind appraisal event hosted by the MPB Foundation. They came carrying precious objects and family heirlooms, hoping to discover hidden treasures were in their hands.
Professional appraisers listened as people shared poignant stories about family legacy pieces and funny tales about a quirky picture or a metal crossing guard. And, while some eventgoers were in the studios, others were enjoying food, beverages and conversation as part of the social gathering upstairs.
MPB’s television crew filmed the appraisers’ interaction with participants for a broadcast that will air in the spring.
Proceeds from the event will benefit MPB Foundation, whose mission is to support, promote, and grow both public broadcasting and the expanding amount of educational digital media produced by MPB, a free resource for all Mississippians. View the photo gallery.
