The pandemic has been a real challenge for TV production, but Mississippi Roads is proud to be back on the road again with a new season beginning February 3 at 7 p.m. on Mississippi Public Broadcasting Television. Episodes will air Thursdays at 7 p.m. and repeat Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The programs feature host Walt Grayson and showcase the Magnolia State’s unique landmarks, attractions, art, history, culture, and of course, people.
Here is a breakdown of upcoming episodes:
What the Rivers Leave Behind – airs February 3 and February 6 - takes us to Red Bluff, Mississippi’s Little Grand Canyon in Foxworth, to The Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve on the coast, and to ice age glacier rocks from the Mississippi River.
Wise, Willful Women – airs February 10 and February 13 - introduces you to a women’s professional football team, to three generations of women who have owned and managed the Belmont Hotel, and to urban farmer Dr. Cindy Ayers at Footprint Farms.
Towns and Things – airs February 17 and February 20 - visits Carrollton with its historic buildings and B&Bs, considers the importance of the Mississippi front porch, explores the courthouse in Jacinto, and examines how Brookhaven is creatively repurposing its historic buildings.
Being of Service – airs February 24 - follows some wonderful therapy dogs, tells how one Mississippi woman is helping the homeless through “Shower Power,” and meets a veteran turned baker in French Camp.
