Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s public affairs news program, “Mississippi Edition,” has won a 2nd place award from the Public Media Journalist Association (PMJA).
The award was recently announced during the organization’s annual conference held in Washington, D.C. The winning show aired March 27, 2023, and focused on the aftermath of the deadly Rolling Fork tornado.
“I’m always humbled when colleagues around the country honor us for the work we do,” said MPB News Director Teresa Collier. “We have a dedicated staff of journalists, and this award is recognition of their commitment to providing our statewide audience with reliable and thorough news coverage.”
In all, PMJA presented 269 first and second place awards across 33 categories.
“This year, we had over 1,450 entries from 144 different organizations in our awards contest,” said PMJA Executive Director Christine Paige Diers. “We’re proud to be able to recognize the great journalism across the country through this contest.”
