A Mississippi teen is potentially facing death penalty in the murder of a 6-year-old boy who was kidnapped in a car found in a grocery store parking lot.
A Madison County Grand Jury is returning two indictments in the murder of six-year-old Kingston Frazier. Byron McBride faces capital murder charges. Another teen is also charged in the May 18th shooting. Michael Guest is District Attorney in Madison and Rankin Counties.
"He was a 6-year-old child who did nothing to deserve what happened to him on that night. I think there is a lot of anger in the community toward those individuals who were responsible for the taking of his life," said Guest.
McBride was indicted for capital murder and possessing stolen property. De'Allen Washington was indicted for accessory after the fact to murder, kidnapping, and motor vehicle theft.
Another suspect, Dwan Wakefield was 17 at the time of Kingston Frazier's death. His case is currently being handled in youth court.
"Because he had not turned 18, because this was not a crime that carries a life sentence and because his actions did not involve a firearm the Grand Jury found that the original jurisdiction arrested with the youth court of Madison County," said Guest.
Guest says his office and Frazier's family are asking the youth court to allow Wakefield to be charged and tried as an adult.
Wakefield's attorney says he cannot comment. The attorneys for McBride and Washington were unavailable for comment.
