It's been over two weeks since multiple tornados swept through parts of Mississippi. Progress is slowly but surely being made in Amory, one of the communities affected by the storms.

Mississippi town slowly bouncing back after tornado
Throughout the town of Amory, tarps cover damaged roofing and debris is piled high in multiple neighborhoods. The town was rattled by an EF3 tornado, and there is still a long way to go to recovery.
Donna Stall, an Amory native, says she's in the process of fixing the roof and flooring of a home she's known since childhood. While the rebuilding will still take weeks, Stall insists things could have been much worse.
"Really, we were lucky." she said. "Sometimes you get a good break and sometimes you don't. And I think ours is sort of mixed."
Corey Glenn, the mayor of Amory, echoes the sentiment that his community is actually quite lucky. He says utilities were out for a number of days, but there were no storm-related deaths in Amory proper. Glenn praises his workers for the progress they've made to get the town back to normal.
"The power grids back going again, our water, water system was down for a while, everything's back up." he said. "So those were the early things that we were dealing with."
Amory's schools are not currently in session but hope to return this week.
