Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is traveling the South letting people know there's another option November 8th. Matt Kessler reports.
An enthusiastic crowd is at the Lyric Theater in Oxford listening to Dr. Jill Stein present her vision for the future.
[Clips from Dr. Stein speech] "One hundred percent clean, renewable energy by the year 2030...healthcare as a human right...we call for a welcoming path to citizenship for the immigrants...the one campaign that will end student debt.."
Stein doesn't let her single-digit poll performances keep her from attacking her major party rivals.
"It was the Clintons that brought us NAFTA and Wall Street deregulation, that sent millions of jobs up in smoke. That created the economic misery that's brought us Donald Trump," said Stein.
After Stein spoke she took questions from the audience. Supporter Ken Weston says he's been hit hard by changes in the economy.
"I just wanted to share with you my vision of this American dream I've been living," said Weston. "I got out of high school and I went to a union trade program paid for by the employers, by industry. But as soon as I graduated the tech bubble burst and so there went my income, down to the lower levels."
And Weston isn't alone. He says that his son is also the victim of a hard economy.
"He graduated, but they won't give him his diploma because he couldn't finish off his student loan," says Weston. "So he's three years out of college now, and no university degree because he owes them money."
Weston is inspired by Stein's message and intends to support her longshot candidacy November 8th.
