The father of a soldier from McComb, is still rejoicing after learning his son survived the recent deadly attack at Fort Hood. MPB's Lawayne Childrey reports.
Theodis Westbrook of McComb says when he and his wife learned their son Sgt Jonathan Westbrook had survived Wednesday's deadly attack at Fort Hood Army base in Texas it was music to their ears.
"I felt like my son had been taken away from me and then given back to me. So I put him on the speaker phone so his mother could hear his voice. And at this point she was almost a total dishrag with worry and fear. But then when she heard his voice, I feel like I had been given a second chance."
Sgt Westbrook was among 16 people wounded by a fellow soldier who killed three others and himself. Westbrook’s father says his son is recovering from wounds to the chest and neck. Westbrook, a 32 year old husband and father of three was stationed at Fort Hood between tours of duty in Afghanistan. Lawayne Childrey, MPB News.
