Willy and Geraldine Cherry have supported the MPB Foundation for nearly 10 years and have become some of our most generous donors. When MPB hosted a “Meet and Greet” in Cleveland several months ago to meet area members, one of the first people through the door was Willy. “Where’s Felder?” he asked! A longtime fan of The Gestalt Gardner, he was able to meet Felder Rushing and swap notes on gardening. Willy provided him a special tackle box for seeds, which Felder says he proudly uses today.
In addition to The Gestalt Gardner, Willy, a retired educator, enjoys Morning Edition to start the day and Gwen Ifill each evening on the PBS NewsHour. “I get my news from MPB, and I think they are the best at bringing the important stories to the air,” he says.
Geraldine, a lifetime resident of Cleveland and a registered nurse with HealthCare Plus, loves all kinds of music, which she enjoys on programs like Austin City Limits and Great Performances. “I especially love the Blues, R&B and Motown-era music. MPB is one of the few stations that air all kinds of arts and music,” she explains. “I also enjoy the cooking shows like Deep South Dining on the radio and Fit to Eat on TV. The recipes are great, and I like to see how to eat healthy while also eating great Southern food.”
The Cherrys give throughout the year and are passionate about MPB. We thank them for their enthusiasm and generosity.
