There is nothing like the smile on the face of a child. At last year’s MPB Summer Learning Fun Day, there were smiles aplenty as youngsters marveled over Sid the Science Kid and other characters. On June 25, we expect a big crowd of parents and adorable kids, who last summer turned the Jackson Convention Center into a funfest that would make any teacher proud.
We’re calling this year’s event “Wild About Learning,” as we continue our mission of bridging the gap between summer break, where kids tend to stop the learning process, and the beginning of school. Kids expect to be entertained and there will be no shortage of PBS characters, such as Peg+Cat, Daniel Tiger and Ready Jet Go! I’ll be the first to acknowledge that last year’s event exceeded expectations. Our MPB Education team has been working hard to ensure that we continue to elevate the kids’ learning experience. Parents, put June 25 on your calendar. Your child will have a great time – and so will you.
Speaking of fun, the MPB Radio team is holding a number of events this month to get out of the studio and meet you, our supporters and potential supporters. It’s your chance to meet your favorite MPB Radio personality and to learn more about what we do. As public broadcasting goes, our radio MPB Think Radio is as good as it gets. With more than 20 hours of local programming each week, our team is addressing issues that affect you.
Come out to meet us June 9 in Gulfport, June 16 in Jackson and June 30 in Cleveland. Supporters and those who’d like to be will have the opportunity to meet personalities such as Kevin Farrell, Karen Brown, Cherita Brent, Jonas Adams, Jason Klein, Marshall Ramsey, Jay White, Sam Wells, Felder Rushing, and many others who either work or support our radio effort. At some events, we’ll also have the incredible doctors who make up the Southern Remedy team, one of the best medical shows in all of radio.
Whether it’s Summer Learning Day or one of our radio Meet and Greets, we look forward to interacting with the people who make us successful – you.
