Students gathered for another exciting afterschool program at Northwood Village with enthusiasm as we begin our afternoon lesson on weather. The book for the afternoon was called “Weather” by Jill McDonald, a book that introduces young readers to weather and science.
Students active viewed a Nature Cat episode that highlighted different animal adaptations that are important during the cold weather.
Following the episode, students took part in an interactive retelling of the episode. Other activities for the afternoon included a game called Four Seasons that tested the students’ knowledge of each season and making thermometers from craft items.
Additionally students enjoyed accessing games and videos on the PBS KIDS Games app. This project is funded by a Ready To Learn grant provided by the Department of Education to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
