Dating back to 1983 Mississippi Roads has broadcast over 190 episodes up until 2004. Join former host Sam Dudley, Mike Morgan, Jack Stevens and current host Walt Grayson and take a trip down memory lane as we sort through our extensive library of music, artist, events and people who make up the fabric of the great state of Mississippi.

In 1999 Grenada teenager Charlie Worsham breaks out the banjo. We take a look inside the historic Redwood Inn in Jackson. Walt tours the state's Indian Mounds. Our featured town is Ellisville.

Luster Bayless brings Hollywood to his home town of Ruleville. Scouts sharpen their skills at Camp Tiak outside Wiggins. The pipe organ at the First Baptist Church in Jackson stirs the congregation each Sunday. This program originally aired in 1991.
Thu, Aug 11, 2005 at 7 pm - (#2309) Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Bee Keeper, Classic Cars in the Delta, Rhythm and Blues Band
Motorcycles descent on the tiny town of Sturgis. We buzz down to Woodville for a closer look at a bee keeping operation. The smooth sounds of rhythm and blues can be heard from a local golden triangle band. There are only a few dairy farms remaining in Oktibbeha County. Walt runs across a classic car collection in the delta. Our featured town is Starkville.

From 1989, we profile poplar radio personality Farmer Jim Neal. We take a float down the Chunky River and soul-shaking music erupts from the Mississippi Mass Choir.

Mississippi Roads travels south to the town of Wiggins in 2002 and discovers an exotic animal farm located in the area. The Children’s International Summer Village brings kids from around the globe together on the Gulf Coast. Rosenwald Schools have been added to Mississippi’s Ten Most Endangered Historic Places List. The awesome power of summer thunderstorms is featured on this weeks Walt’s Way.

We travel back to 1987 for the Mississippi State Forestry Field Day. Jean and Ke Francis are perfecting their art in Tupelo and Otha Turner strikes up his Fife and Drum band in Senatobia.

Mississippi Roads come to you from Stennis Space Center in tonight’s program. Origins of the Creole culture on the Gulf Coast are explored. In Brandon we encounter the old west at Hill-top Painted Acres and Walt travels off the coast to Horn Island in this program that first aired in 2000.

The Battle of Champion Hill is reenacted. In Madison County we observe the grueling work of a local blacksmith and The Academy of Ancient Music brings back tunes of long ago in this program that first aired in 1986.

Lusco’s Restaurant in Greenwood is a delta family tradition, Mendenhall Ministries serves the needy of Simpson County, The Northeast Mississippi Museum in Corinth is home to many Civil War artifacts and we travel back to 1991 for the first annual Gulf Coast Blues Festival.

Dancers are shaking up the Queen City of Meridian. Old cabooses are on track for a new life. Mississippian’s search the woods for the elusive Bigfoot. Hitch up that team and ride along with the Dixie National Wagon Train. Paulding is our featured town; from 2004.

Back in 1987 we take a look at the building of the Biloxi Schooner, A jazz band performs aboard a train headed to New Orleans and we train our sights on the Magnolia Retrievers Club in Madison.
Thu, May 26, 2005 at 7 pm - (#501) Delta Baptism, Old Courthouse Museum in Vicksburg, Smokehouse Band
Classic Roads travels back to 1988 for an old fashioned Baptism in the delta town of Gunnison. The Old Courthouse Museum in Vicksburg holds many treasures from the past. Pick up the fiddle and rosin up the bow as we head to Corinth for some rousing bluegrass music from the Smokehouse band.

The chilling history of ice plants in Mississippi is unthawed. Gulf Coast artists unite in Ocean Springs to create a cooperative gallery. The oldest edifice west of the Atlantic Coast is located in our featured town of Pascagoula. 2004 is the year this Classic episode first aired.

Classic Roads travels back to 1988 for a celebration of mules at the Mississippi Agriculture Museum. In Cleveland we introduce you to a maid who has taken up the art of painting on the side and we travel down to Magee for a high flying adventure with the Circle M Sky Diving Club.
Thu, May 05, 2005 at 7 pm - (#2602) Gulf of Mexico: Continental Harmony, Coast Guard Cutter, Horn Island Art Experience, Gulf of Mexico
All hands on deck as we board a United States Coast Guard Cutter and patrol the Gulf of Mexico. Coastal choirs and musicians of all ages unite in sweet harmony and artists go to extremes to get creative on Horn Island. 2004 is the year this Classic episode first aired.

Classic Roads travels to the town of Bay Springs where we experience the state’s only open air jazz festival. Mt. Olive native Billy Ray Reynolds had a hand in country music’s outlaw movement in the 1970's. In Utica a camp caters to the needs of some special children and Walt takes us on an overnight camping trip to Dunn’s Falls.

Classic Roads travels back to 1989 for a visit with delta portrait artist Marshall Bouldin, head out to the old ballpark Mississippi State style at the Left Field Lounge and we see what they are saying at the Magnolia School for the Hearing Impaired in Jackson.

The Mississippi Roads crew travels the state in search of recording studios, a Ridgeland woman perfects the craft of doll making and Walt explores Rowan Oak, the home of William Faulkner in our featured town of Oxford.

Classic Roads travels back to 1987 for a tour of French Camp Academy, the traditional art of weaving is practiced by people in McComb and on the Gulf Coast, and soothing sounds flow from the children at the Suzuki Violin School in Jackson.
