From the moment the cameras rolled, Oxford proved to be a city brimming with surprises. The appraisals this season range from the astonishing to the deeply personal. Viewers will see works of art that might be by Salvador Dalí, a 500-year-old first-edition book manuscript, rare sports memorabilia, antique firearms, family jewelry, musical instruments, fine paintings, and even vintage clothing. Each piece brings with it a unique narrative, transforming what might look like an everyday object into a chapter of Mississippi history. Beyond the appraised value, the heart of the show lies in the human connection—what these treasures have meant to Mississippi families and how they continue to carry meaning across generations.
In October of 2022, Mississippi Public Broadcasting and the MPB Foundation introduced a local version of a traveling appraisal show, giving Mississippians the opportunity to receive professional opinions about their family heirlooms and treasures. Hundreds of people gathered at the MPB studios in Jackson for Mississippi Antiques Showcase, bringing everything from paintings and vases to tapestries and music boxes.
