The French Revolution led to the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte, who as emperor granted citizenship to Jews throughout the French empire, in effect opening the ghetto gates and spreading the enlightenment among European Jewry. On this episode, French Jewish music, musicians, singers and composers to celebrate Bastille Day, July 14.– including the work of Serge Gainsborough, Yael Naim, Darius Milhaud, Hanna Ahroni, Maurice El Medioni and much more.
