Overview
Southern Remedy is a show produced by Mississippi Public Broadcasting and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. It answers medical questions from listeners with a decided Southern dialect. It's hosted by Gene Edwards, a well known broadcast journalist in the state, and Dr. Rick deShazo, chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Medical Center. Dr. Rick and his guests from University Physicians, the multi disciplinary practice group at the Medical Center, take calls from listeners all over the state and beyond on topics ranging from allergy and asthma to the vaccinations travelers need when leaving the country. The show airs on Wednesday mornings at 9 following Morning Edition.
