University of Mississippi Medical Center researchers are looking at how sleep affects heart health and strokes. 

State lawmakers will have a full plate when they return for the 2013 legislative session.

"Every extra pound of bodyweight on your upper body puts four pounds of pressure on your knee. That can lead to arthritis then on top of that there's high blood pressure there's diabetes there's stroke, heart disease it’s all associated with being overweight."

Time is running out for Mississippians hoping to owe less in taxes by donating to charities.

Since adopting the rehabilitation program  last year Clinton police officials say they have seen only a one percent rate of repeat offenders.

The Mississippi Department of Education gave contracts to a single abstinence education company before the curriculum was approved for schools. Critics say the funds provided districts with a strong financial incentive to select “Choosing the Best,” leading the company to hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits. “Choosing the Best” has no evidence that it changes student behavior.

Critics say, the state will spend millions and get minimal results.
