Segment 1:
Governor Phil Bryant says it would be a quote 'stupid thing to do' for anyone to attempt to buy votes ahead of Tuesday's senate run-off. The chair of the state's Democratic party has accused Senator Thad Cochran's campaign of handing out money to convince black democrats to turn out in support of Cochran's re-election. Governor Bryant says he does not know if the rumors are true, but that no one should even attempt to buy votes in Mississippi. State democratic leaders have also said that voters who vote in the republican primary are legally bound to vote for the republican candidate in the general election next Tuesday.
Segment 2:
At a White House ceremony yesterday, Mississippi native Marine Corporal Kyle Carpenter was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama.  President Obama recounted the events that led to Corporal Carpenter being honored.
Segment 3:
Lisa Howorth is no stranger to good fiction.  She's the co-founder and co-owner of the famed Square Books in Oxford.  Now, she's out with her first novel, Flying Shoes.  It's a story based on real events in her life, involving the sexual abuse and murder of a family member.  In this Book Club extra, Howorth talks to our Sandra Knispel about the setting of her book.
