Poverty in Mississippi

Hundreds of social workers and other local income advocates from across the state are gathering in Jackson this week to tackle challenges facing Mississippi's poorest residents. Part of the summit will include a poverty simulation, or role playing expierence, that teaches participants about the harsh realities of being poor. Alita Fitzgerald is the Executive Director of the childrens defense fund and here is to help us today to help us understand the impact that poverty has on individuals and as well as the overall health of the state.
