Stories From the Flood

Air date 07/12/11

Cultures for thousands of years have relied on oral tradition to pass one generation's stories onto the next. Now with modern recording capabilities we can literally pass down memories in the story teller's voice. A new project hopes to do just that by preserving the stories of those affected by thehistoric Mississippi River flood. Joining us to talk about the importance of story telling and how we can preserve them is Carolyn Vance Smith founder of the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celeberation and Director of the Oral History Project.
