Monday, July 2: Abortion Clinic

Air date 07/02/12

A federal judge has temporarily blocked enforcement of a Mississippi law that could shut down the only abortion clinic in the state.   U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan in Jackson issued a temporary restraining order Sunday, hours after the new law took effect.  He set a July 11 hearing to determine whether to block the law for a longer time. The law requires everyone who performs abortion at the clinic to be an OB-GYN with privileges to admit patients to a local hospital. Before the ruling came down, MPB's Lawayne Childrey spoke with Diane Durzis, President of the Jackson Women's Health Organization, the clinic the law was designed to shut down. She talks about how the new law would affect her clinic.

Then, we have Everyday Technology with Kevin Farrell and Ashley Jefcoat. Learn etiquette skills with your cellular device.

Also, it's time to fire up the grill and get ready for the holiday later this week. MPB's own chef Rob Stinson has some ideas to help you gain independence from extra fat and calories, and still have fun with the grill.  He spoke with MPB's Ezra Wall.
