Friday, June 8: Morgan Keegan

Air date 06/8/12

About 16 hundred Mississippians have a week to claim their share of the 200 million dollar settlement with the investment firm Morgan Keegan. The settlement resulted from seven bond funds that lost more than one billion dollars in 2007 and 2008.  The company was accused of artificially inflating the value and safety of the fund.  Secretary of State, Delbert Hosemann says people who lost money in the funds are eligible to get a portion of that money back. He spoke with MPB's Jeffrey Hess.

Then, from now through November you'll hear a lot of advice about how to make sure your family is disaster-ready. But Bill Brown, deputy director of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, says it's important to remember to include pets in your evacuation plans. He says MEMA is working to increase the number of pet-friendly shelters. Brown spoke with MPB's Rhonda Miller.

Also, imagine the desire of a couple who want nothing more than to start a family of their own. Then imagine that hope extinguished by the reality of infertility. Dr. Preston Parry of the University of Mississippi Medical Center says infertility affects many Mississippians. But he offers his patients advice and hope. Parry spoke with MPB's Ezra Wall.

We also have a preview of the weekend box office.
