Monday, June 4:Mississippi Democrats

Air date 06/4/12

On Friday, Mississippi Democrats held platform meetings to discuss what would be part of the official party platform for the upcoming November elections. Ricky Cole spoke with us about the party platform. He is the executive director.

Then, hurricane season is officially here, and getting an early start. We've already seen two named storms, and those were here before the June 1st start of the season. Julie Rochman is President and CEO of the Insurance Institutes for Business and Home Safety. She gave MPB's Jeffrey Hess some advice to help home owners protect their property.

Also, this weekend proved difficult for one of the brightest track and field stars in the Magnolia state. Brittney Reese placed a disappointing 7th in the international Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon. With the 2012 Summer Olympics barely eight weeks away, many U.S. athletes, including Reese, are still facing their official qualifiers for London later this month. But as MPB’s Sandra Knispel reports, despite the disappointment this weekend, Reese’s competitors know better than to underestimate the current world champion.

Then, Kevin Farell reports about Everyday Technology with Ashley Jefcoat.
