Across the country the Veterans Administration Medical Centers offer many healthcare benefits to veterans of the United States Armed Forces. In Mississippi, the VA is reaching out to vets who might not know what their benefits are, or how to claim them. Fred Nichols joins us to talk about how the VA bridges the healthcare gap for veterans.

Then, Senator Roger Wicker was on hand as several local and county officials announced their switch from Democrat to Republican. Senator Wicker spoke to MPB's Jeffrey Hess about Republican ideals, why he's confident in a Romney victory in November, and whether the House and Senate might finally pass a budget.

Next, research says the role of the principal is changing. So to is the process of training them. Challenging the traditional track to school leadership is the Principal Corps program based out of the University of Mississippi. MPB's Southern Education Desk Reporter, Annie Gilbertson, reports.
