Fri, Oct. 19: Youth Justice

Air date 10/19/12

1 - Mississippi judicial leaders are getting close to issuing a set of recommended changes for the state's youth justice system. The recommendations will include both youth court - which handles juvenile offenders - and family court - which assist abused and neglected children.  Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Randy Pierce says the recommendations are all about the child's well-being. He spoke with MPB's Jeffrey Hess.

Judge John Hudson was also in attendance. He's a youth court judge in Adams County, and also spoke with Jeffrey.

2 - During his eight years as governor of Mississippi, Haley Barbour was instrumental in bringing thousands of jobs to the Magnolia state. Part of attracting Toyota to northeast Mississippi was the promise to create a center at the University of Mississippi to help train high-tech manufacturing workers. Yesterday, Ole Miss officially dedicated a new building that now houses the Center for Manufacturing Excellence. The building is named for Barbour, who spoke to MPB's Sandra Knispel.

3 - The Mississippi State Bulldogs are undefeated so far this football season. But will their winning ways continue tomorrow versus Middle Tennessee State? Our Jay White spoke with head coach Dan Mullen, who says he's very pleased with his team so far.
