Mon, Oct. 8: Record West Nile
1 - Mississippi has set a record for the number of confirmed West Nile Virus cases. There are more than 200 cases of the mosquito born illness in the state and at least 5 Mississippians have died from the disease. Dr. Thomas Dobbs is the State Epidemiologist. He tells MPB's Jeffrey Hess this is the West Nile's biggest year yet in Mississippi.
2 - Everyday Technology: today Kevin and Ashley hook you up with several apps aimed at a safer, less "texty" drive.
3 - House Speaker Philip Gunn is joining other Republican and Democrat state legislators on a statewide listening tour this week. "Mississippi Solutions: An Ideas Tour" is a town hall-style meeting where Mississippians can meet with legislators and voice their concerns in advance of the 20-13 legislative session. Speaker Gunn spoke with MPB's Ezra Wall, and says he is pleased with his first year as Mississippi's Speaker.
