Mon, Oct. 1: James Meredith at Ole Miss

Air date 10/01/12

1 - Mississippi's teen pregnancy rate is the highest in the nation. Statistically, children of teen parents are less likely to graduate high school and find jobs. They're also more likely to live in poverty and end up in prisons.  Governor Phil Bryant wants to reduce the state's teen pregnancy rate by 15 percent by the year 2017. He has established The Governor's Task Force on Teen Pregnancy, which is traveling the state to hear from residents on ways to solve the crisis. Governor Bryant spoke with MPB's Daniel Cherry.

2 - Everyday Technology

3 - Today marks the day – exactly 50 years ago – that James Meredith became the first black student to enroll at the University of Mississippi, after a night of deadly riots. As MPB’s Sandra Knispel reports, the effects on the state still reverberate.
