Wed, Sept. 19: Suicide in MS

Air date 09/19/12

1 - 2011 saw 333 Mississippians take their own lives. That number is more than 50 less than the previous year. But Kris Jones of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health says suicide is still a big concern. Jones is director of the Department's Youth Suicide program. She talks to MPB's Ezra Wall.

2 - Mississippi has the highest food insecurity rate in the nation, according to the hunger organization Feeding America. Working to change that trend is the Mississippi Food Network. They, along with the National Urban League and Tyson Foods, are offering educational Nutrition Fairs today in Vicksburg and tomorrow in Jackson. Joining us from the Mississippi Food Network are Millicent Crosby and Cassandra Guest. Guest says their work is never done.

3 - It's been a few weeks since we last talked to you about the MPB Top 25 High School Football Poll. In that time, there's been a lot of movement at the top of the list as MPB's Jay White tells our Ezra Wall.
