Segment 1: According to new data, Mississippi is worst in the nation when it comes to welfare of the state's children. The annual Kids Count survey ranked Mississippi last in overall child welfare, economics and family situation and 48th in health and education measures. Laura Speer is with the Annie E. Segment 2: On September 1st, Bishop James Swanson, Sr. will become the head of Mississippi's United Methodist Church. He is currently the Bishop of the Holston Conference near Knoxville, Tennessee. MPB's Ezra Wall caught up with Bishop Swanson waiting to catch a plane. Swanson talks about growing up in the church.

Segment 3: We've heard from Mississippi food writer John T. Edge before about his love of food trucks. It's actually the subject of his latest book, the Truck Food Cookbook. In this week's book club, MPB's Sandra Knispel talks more with John T. about his interest in portable food.
