Tuesday, May 1: Leaders on Budget

Air date 05/01/12

With next year's State Budget now complete, the leaders of both the House and the Senate say they're pleased with the outcome. First, MPB's Jeffrey Hess caught up with Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves. Then, Speaker Gunn reacts.

Then, after 34 years in the Army Major General Reuben Jones says he's still honored to serve the American people. The Jackson Public Schools product and Jackson State University graduate recently returned to Mississippi. He was here to speak to the JSU ROTC. General Jones spoke with MPB's Ezra Wall.

Also, Smithville is rising slowly from the rubble after last year’s deadly tornado. But as MPB’s Sandra Knispel reports, the small northeast Mississippi town is still far from normalcy.

And former Governor William Winter visited Oxford recently, where he spoke with MPB's Sandra Knispel after being honored at the University of Mississippi. In part two of our conversation, Governor Winter talks to us about some of the current issues facing Mississippi.
