Air date 12/13/11

A new survey released by the Mississippi Center for Health Policy says that over 90 percent of Mississippi parents want a more comprehensive sex education class for their children. We're joined by Therese Hanna, the Center's executive director. She says parents still want to be involved.

Then, the National Fire Protection Association says an estimated 260 structure fires are caused by Christmas trees each year, and another 170 are caused by faulty holiday lights. In fact, together they caused 21 deaths in 2009.
Joining us with some advice on how to have safer - maybe even more efficient holiday displays this year is Mara Hartmann, senior communications specialist for Entergy Mississippi.

Also, how many people do you know who pick up their party plate at Thanksgiving, and don't ever set it down until after the new year? Well, if you're hoping to get through the holiday party season without packing on the pounds, we can help! Donna Speed is Registered Dietician in Mississippi, and the chairperson of the National Fruit and Vegetables Alliance. She says it's very tempting to set healthy eating aside until the new year.
