Friday, Dec. 3 Waller Remembered

Air date 12/03/11

The body of former Governor Bill Waller will lie in State at the capitol building tomorrow from 9AM until 1pm. Joining us to talk about Waller's often-overlooked legacy is Dr. David Sansing, professor emeritus of the University of Mississippi department of History.

Another former Governor, William Winter, was lieutenant Governor during Waller's administration. He spoke with MPB's Jeffrey Hess.

Then, the Mississippi High School Activities Association hosts their championship football games beginning at 11:00 this morning. There are three games today and three tomorrow, all of which can be seen live at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, or statewide on MPB TV. MHSAA Executive Director Don Hinton joins MPB's Ezra Wall. He starts by sizing up the 1-A matchup between Noxipatur and Shaw.

Also, Michael Rubenstein passed away late Wednesday in Jackson. He was a long-time sports journalist, and the founding director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Mississippi Edition sports correspondent, Jay White, offers a remembrance.

And Anita talks Shakespearean movies!
