Last week the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction - the so-called Super Committee of congressional leaders - failed to reach an agreement on over a trillion dollars in spending cuts. That means, unless congress intervenes, certain automatic cuts will begin to take place in the coming years. Republican Senator Roger Wicker spoke with MPB's Daniel Cherry about the recent budget negotiations.

Also, for over 30 years the Mustard Seed has reached out to developmentally delayed adults through both residential and non-residential programs. The program's participants play games, learn music, paint ceramics and more. Del Harrington, the Mustard Seed's community relations manager, talks about the organization's beginnings, and how they would like to reach even more Mississippians in need.

Then, Mississippi has a BIG problem, says Dr. Rick deShazo. Obesity in Mississippi causes major health problems in many adults. But now, those problems are even affecting our children, as he tells MPB's Ezra Wall.
