Mississippi is home to one of the  most severe teacher shortages in the nation. It's also home to some of the largest teacher corp programs. A Teacher Corp program allows college graduates to serve 2 years in underserved, often rural schools.  MPB’s Education Reporter, Annie Gilbertson spoke with Ben Guest, program manager of Mississsippi Teacher Corp, about  the challenges the corp members face as outsiders entering a new community.

Then, Alcohol abuse is a typical problem at most college campuses across the country. But, as MPB’s Sandra Knispel reports, the University of Mississippi now has a collegiate recovery program that places it among national trailblazers.

Also, Mississippians will be out in full force over the holiday weekend. Most of them will be driving, according to AAA's Michael Wright. He tells MPB's Jeffrey Hess that the busy travel weekend is a nationwide trend.

And Anita Modak-Truran joins us to talk about the big holiday movie week!
