Attorney General Public Forum

Air date 10/04/11

Both candidates for Mississippi attorney general spoke at a press luncheon Monday. The event was the only time the two will appear together during the campaign. Republican Steve Simpson and Democrat Jim Hood both say they're voting for a "personhood" initiative that would amend the state constitution to say life begins at conception.
Hood, the current Attorney General, won't say how he'll vote on a voter ID initiative, although he says he'll defend it if it passes and is challenged in court.
Simpson, the former Public Safety director and a former judge, spoke first at the luncheon. He used his opening remarks to challenge Hood to a public debate, an offer Hood has repeatedly declined.
