Segment 1:
Mississippians being advised  to check your charity before donating money.  Today, thousands of the nation's non-profit organizations are hoping to  raise funds as part of Giving Tuesday.  This is the second year for the event. It was started as a way to focus attention on giving back during this time of consumer spending.  Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman is urging Mississippians to put their money where it will do the most good.  He spoke with MPB's Ezra Wall.
Segment 2:
Mississippians are mourning the passing of former Governor Bill Allain.  The 85 year-old Democrat died yesterday at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson after being hospitalized for several weeks with pneumonia. Allain served as Mississippi's Governor from 1984 to 1988 and is remembered, in part, for his appointment of significant numbers of women and minorities to government jobs.   Dr. Marty Wiseman is director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University.  He joins us now with his reflections on Governor Bill Allain and his legacy.
Segment 3:
One group of Americans who could always use some extra love from the home-front are the members of the US Military.  Once again the American Red Cross is urging Mississippians to send holiday cards in support of active-duty and veteran service members through a program called "Holiday Mail for Heroes."  Martha Duvall is with the Red Cross in Mississippi, and spoke to our Ezra Wall.
