More than 80 percent of Mississippi's hospitals have committed to reducing the number of deliveries before 39 weeks of pregnancy.  State Health Officer Dr. Mary Currier says the number of instances in which a woman selects her own delivery date is increasing and that could be a detriment to the baby's health.
Mississippi lawmakers are just weeks away from finalizing a budget for fiscal year 2015. As MPB's Paul Boger reports state officials are cautioning the legislature against creating more debt than the state can handle.

Half of parents are worried their kids are not school ready when it's time to start kindergarten.  That's according to a new study from PBS - public television's main distributor of children's programming.  But the parents surveyed are not as worried about letters and numbers as they are about social skills.  PBS's Leslie Rotenberg talked to us about the latest findings.
