Meet Karen Brown
Karen Brown, as you can probably tell by listening to her, is not from around these parts. Born and raised in New Jersey, Karen made her first foray into radio news in South Dakota where she lived for 17 years following college and graduate school. A ten-year stay in west central Illinois and a job co-hosting a morning news/talk radio program followed. Then it was on to Columbus, Mississippi for a year before settling in the Jackson area in the summer of 2007.
Karen hosts “Mississippi Edition” and “Morning Edition” on MPB but she has worn many a hat in the past, including theatre director and manager, newspaper columnist, theatre critic, PR consultant and freelance writer. She is the proud mother of two remarkable boys, Casey (15) and Jesse (14). While Karen has embraced most of the attributes of southern living with great enthusiasm, she is a hold-out on one definitive serving of Southern cuisine – grits. She’s not fixin’ to eat them anytime soon. Bless her heart.
