Each week on the Mississippi Arts hour, you hear an in-depth interview with a creative Mississippian.   This week,Larry Morrisey talks to Oxford jazz and blues singer Effie Burt.  She grew up singing gospel in a family group that performed around north Mississippi. While living in Iowa for several years, Burt was “discovered” at a karaoke contest and became an in-demand vocalist for a number of blues and jazz groups.  This episode also features two of Burt's songs.
