Episode #15

Air date 06/12/13
Host: Maggie Stevenson

On June 7, 1963, the NAACP held a mass rally at the Masonic Temple in Jackson. Thirty five hundred people came. Opera star Lena Horne sang. Then Medgar Evers spoke—for the first time publically—about the dangers he faced. “I love my children, and I love my wife with all my heart,” he said.  “And I would gladly die if that would make a better life for them.”
