Air date 06/05/13
Host: Maggie Stevenson

In the mid 1950s, it was quite risky for Negroes to join the NAACP. Still, Medgar Evers continually tried to get new members. He spoke to people on the street, made speeches, and even invited baseball star Jackie Robinson for a rally. As the system of segregation cracked, Negroes experienced even more harassment and Medgar Evers became even more determined.
