Meet Walt
Walt Grayson is a 5th generation Mississippian, born and raised in Greenville.
Walt's interest in broadcasting started early. His first radio job was as an announcer for a Greenville station while he was still in high school.
Walt joined the WLBT-TV team as a weather anchor in 1984. Now, he takes viewers on a weekly "Look Around Mississippi" on WLBT, and still serves as an occasional pinch hitter in the Weather Center. In addition, Walt is the host of, and a segment producer for, Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s Mississippi Roads.
His hobbies include writing and photography (Walt shoots all of the video for his stories), collecting old records, and “fixing” old tube-type radios.
Walt also writes a monthly newspaper article for the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi’s newspaper, TODAY IN MISSISSIPPI. He is also the author of four books: Jackson the Good Life; Looking Around Mississippi with Walt Grayson; Looking Around Mississippi Some More! With Walt Grayson, (which was awarded the Mississippi Library Associations Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award in 2008;) and, Oh! That Reminds Me, More Homegrown Mississippi Stories with Walt Grayson.
Walt is a member of the Associated Press’ MISSISSIPPI BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME.
He is married to his Junior High School Sweetheart, “Miz” Jo.
