Names Popping Up in Chancellor Search
Despite a closed search process, people are talking about a list of possible names to replace Chancellor Robert Khayat at the University of Mississippi. MPB’s Cari Gervin has more.
An article in the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal over the weekend listed several names that are floating around.
One possible candidate being talked about as the next chancellor of the University of Mississippi is Dan Jones, the dean of the School of Medicine and vice chancellor for health affairs at the university.
Another name that has popped up is that of Barry Cannada. Cannada is a prominent corporate attorney in Jackson.
Both men have degrees from Ole Miss and both are in their 50’s.
According to the article, former governor Ronnie Musgrove is actively campaigning for the chancellorship. Former Senator Trent Lott’s name has also been mentioned.
The state Board of Trustees of Institutions for Higher Learning has said it will not release the names of any candidates it is considering for the job.
For MPB News, I’m Cari Gervin in Oxford.
