Why Graduation Matters

The Education Staff of MPB collaborated with United Way, Operation Shoestring, the Mississippi Children’s Museum and America’s Promise Alliance to host a Youth Panel Discussion entitled “Why Graduation Matters”.  The event was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 and was moderated by Jim and Donna Barksdale.  Additional dropout prevention activities included a series of town hall meetings, featuring discussions guided by the locally produced MPB series “Can I Kick It”.  The Town Hall Meeting Dates were as follows:  January 12, 2012 (Wingfield High School); February 2, 2012 (Lanier High School); March 1, 2012 (Provine High School); April 5, 2012; May 3, 2012; June 7, 2012 all at the Jackson Medical Mall Community Room.  All meetings will be held from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
