Mississippi schools’ best spellers compete March 25 LIVE on MPB TV and Online |

(Jackson, Miss.) - Put your skills to the test when Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) airs the 2008 State Spelling Bee Championship LIVE on MPB TV and at www.mpbonline.org, Tuesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. from the MPB Auditorium.
According to MPB Executive Director Marie Antoon, “The State Spelling Bee Championship exemplifies a deep commitment to learning that is to be commended and encouraged. Mississippi Public Broadcasting is delighted to provide statewide coverage of this scholastic event as these young people from across Mississippi compete to be the 2008 State Spelling Bee Champion.”
Sponsoring the event is Jackson-based newspaper The Clarion-Ledger. Pam Cleveland, The Clarion-Ledger newspaper in education coordinator says, “We are thrilled to team up with Mississippi Public Broadcasting again this year. The State Spelling Bee Championship is a very exciting competition. We hope that many classrooms throughout the state will be given the opportunity to watch it.”
The newspaper will provide the winner with a cash award toward expenses to compete in the 81st Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 28 – 29.
