Nearly a dozen Ackerman High School students are recovering today after yesterdays deadly crash between a school bus and an 18 wheeler in Calhoun County . MPB's Lawayne Childrey reports on the fatal wreck that claimed the lives of 3 people.
The bus was carrying the seniors from Ackerman High School, who were returning from a trip to the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Mississippi Highway Patrolman Ray Hall was one of the first on the scene.
“At this time we're still investigating the crash. I can tell you it was a head on collision. Ah, it's still under investigation of how it happened. I can tell you the accident occurred a just bit after 2pm just jest of Calhoun City in Calhoun County."
Of the more than 60 people involved in the crash John Kahalar, spokesman for the Mississippi Highway patrol says the accident did claim the lives of three adults.
"One of em was the driver of the 18 wheeler the other two adults were on the bus. As for as injuries there were 10 transported to hospitals by way of ambulance and they all had nonlife threatening life injuries as well."
Those injured were reportedly taken to hospitals in Tupelo and Grenada. Lawayne Childrey MPB News.
